2012 - Deputy Director of Research, Edinburgh College of Art. Responsible, along with the ECA Director of Research, for implementing and developing overall ECA research strategy, reviewing internal research grant applications, and undertaking peer review of external grant applications, organising research development programmes. These have included a major exhibition of the ECA REF2014 submission, 'New Knowledge Effectively Shared' at ECA in January 2014, the CHSS KE showcase (April 2014) and 'Visualising Voices' part of the IASH 'Being Human' Festival (Nov 2014). I represent ECA on the CHSS KE and Impact Committee, and the steering group of the Centre for Cultural Relations.
2012 - Director of Research, School of Design, Edinburgh College of Art
Responsible for the development of research culture in a traditionally teaching-focussed area of Edinburgh College of Art, comprising 52 staff, and 26 Phd students.
As part of the management team in the School of Design, I also contribute to the school plan (with particular regard to research strategy), to annual review of staff, and to PGR admissions and development.
2013- Co-ordinator for REF 2014 Unit of Assessment 34 (Art, Design, History of Art)
Responsible for the co-ordination of a submission that involved 97 staff across three different subject areas, in an institution two years into an historic merger that involved, in particular, a large number of non-textual outputs.

Promotion in recognition of my research profile, and of my contribution to innovative taught postgraduate curriculum developments in my disciplinary area, Interior Design.
2004-2012 Programme Director, Ma/MFA Interior Design/Interior Architectural Design Edinburgh College of Art
I transformed TPG provision in Interior Design by establishing an innovative MFA programme in collaboration with partners across Europe at the Technical Universities of Stuttgart, Lugano and Istanbul, Lahti Polytechnic in Finland, and the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology in Ahmedabad, in 2011.
2004-2012 Programme Director, BA(hons) Interior Design, Edinburgh College of Art
As programme director for the BA(hons) I led curriculum development by growing provision for teaching in Computer Aided Design, projects involving community engagement with partners from the Scottish Storytelling Centre to Aquins School, new lecture series around building construction, current research into Interiors history and theory, and a programme of visiting speakers.
I also subscribed the programme to national disciplinary bodies, including the Interiors Forum Scotland and Interior Educators UK.

I ran two evening courses over three years - A History of Interior Design and Building Stories which I used to develop thinking around my two major book projects, The Secret Lives of Buildings and The Memory Palace: A Book of Lost Interiors.

May 2006 Form Follows Fiction
Exhibition/Storytelling Event Staged as part of the Six Cities festival of Scottish Design, this project took 6 icons of Scottish design, from the rebranding of Irn Bru by the Leith Agency to the Hillman Imp, and gave them to two storytellers to weave their magic upon on them, resulting in an interactive exhibition and public event.
